Fleur Delacour’s born on or before October 30, 1977.

She’s the eldest daughter of Monsieur Delacour and Apolline Delacour.

But what made her so unique, you ask?

Well, Fleur’s not just a human.

She’s actually a quarter Veela. A magical being with gold hair and fair skin. She had the natural ability to attract people.

As a result, that’s where Fleur got all her beauty.

So it’s no surprise why all the boys couldn’t take their eyes off Delacour.

It came naturally to her.

And if you’ve got a moment to spare…

Here’s a must-watch Fleur Delacour  clip you need to check out right now:

Sadly, we don’t know much about her past.

Her childhood’s never mentioned in the story.

“How’d someone so beautiful stay off the radar then?”

Well, Fleur didn’t study at Hogwarts.

And that’s why Harry Potter and his friends didn’t meet her earlier.

But where else could you learn magic, you ask?

Fleur Delacour lived in France. And she became a skillful witch at Beauxbatons Academy of Magic.

“Wait, there’s more than just 1 wizarding school?”

Yes, there are a bunch more in the Harry Potter Universe.

The world’s not just centered around Britain, you know!

So when she came to Hogwarts for the Triwizard Tournament

The international magical contest’s the 1st time she was introduced in the series.

But was Fleur Delacour your average witch?

No, it’s the exact opposite.

She’s actually a Triwizard Champion. The representative from her school.

And you don’t become one without some serious skill.

A big sister

But most importantly, Fleur didn’t grow up alone.

She had a sister, Gabrielle, who she loved very much.

In fact, when Harry Potter saved Gabrielle from the bottom of the lake…

It’s only then that Harry earned Fleur’s undying loyalty.

Which goes to show how important family was to Fleur Delacour. An important life lesson I’ve learned from Harry Potter.

Fleur Delacour occupation

After graduating, Fleur Delacour got a part-time job at Gringotts. Britain’s maximum-security wizarding bank ran by goblins.

“Wait, why work in Britain? Couldn’t she stay in France?”

Well, Fleur wanted to work on her English.

As a result, finding employment in Britain’s wizarding community was the best option.

But did Fleur have a boring life because of this decision?

No, it’s the exact opposite, really.

In fact, she reconnected with Bill Weasley. Eldest son of the Weasley family.

They first met during the Triwizard Tournament. And Fleur immediately fell in love.

Soon after, Bill and Fleur started dating.

And after a year of being together, the eldest Weasley finally proposed to her.

“Well, what did Fleur Delacour say?”

Of course, she accepted.

And when summer came in 1996, Bill brought his fiancée to the Burrow

So Fleur could get to know the Weasley family much better at their home.

After that, her life was pretty normal.

In fact, here’s what Fleur Delacour had to say about what she did every day:

“Bill is very busy at ze moment, working very ‘ard, and I only work part-time at Gringotts for my Eenglish, so he brought me ‘ere for a few days to get to know ‘is family properly. I was so pleased to ‘ear you would be coming — zere isn’t much to do ‘ere, unless you like cooking and chickens!”

Fleur Delacour character

Nobody can match Fleur’s beauty.

In fact, when she first entered Hogwarts…

All eyes were on her, and everybody was speechless.

In another scenario, this was how Fleur was described in the book:

“A young woman was standing in the doorway, a woman of such breathtaking beauty that the room seemed to have become strangely airless. She was tall and willowy with long blonde hair and appeared to emanate a faint, silvery glow.”

But how did that reflect on her personality?

Well, let’s just say she wasn’t the most pleasant.

In fact, Fleur’s self-awareness of her beauty made her a tad bit more arrogant.

For example, when Ron Weasley asked her to the dance.

Did she politely decline the young boy’s advances?

No, it’s much worse than that…

Fleur Delacour glared at Ron like he was some kind of sea slug.

Fleur Delacour Character

A huge blow to the young Weasley’s ego.

And very mean coming from Fleur.

She’s also rather blunt.

And Fleur Delacour was never afraid to speak her mind about things she didn’t like.

For instance, when Hogwarts’ Christmas decorations were looking a bit dull…

Did she just let things slide?

No, Fleur made insulting comments.

Plus, she even complained about the food:

“It is too ‘eavy, all zis ‘Ogwarts food. I will not fit into my dress robes!”

Fleur’s warm and caring side

However, Fleur Delacour’s not all bad news.

She also had her good parts. Especially if she sees you as a friend, family, or dear loved one.

Like how she treated Harry after saving her sister. Fleur Delacour became a lot more respectful towards him.

Plus, let’s not forget Fleur’s husband, Bill Weasley.

She cared a lot about him.

And when he was attacked and sent to the hospital…

Fleur came running, looking for her beloved.

In fact, she insisted on being the one to treat Bill too.

Which goes to show you just need to truly know someone to see their true colors.

3 most famous Fleur Delacour quotes

#1: “We ‘ave all be ‘oping to be chosen for weeks and weeks! Ze honour for our schools! A thousand Galleons prize money — zis is a chance many would die for!”

Being chosen as Triwizard Champion’s no joke.

It’s not something any person can do.

And it’s a title that comes with a lot of responsibility too.

So how’d Fleur Delacour react to becoming herself?

Well, she’s overjoyed.

Fleur’s among the many witches who hoped to get the spot.

And like she said, Fleur’s waiting for weeks and weeks…

Hoping to be the lucky one from Beuxbatons Academy.

Plus, the money’s no slouch either.

The winning prize could change anybody’s life. And it’s not that shocking to see how Fleur reacted to the opportunity.

#2: “Madame Maxime! Zey are saying zat zis little boy is to compete also!”

You see, the Triwizard Tournament’s no ordinary competition.

It’s sacred and follows a lot of rules. Not to mention, very dangerous.

Normally, each school would only get 1 champion.

Plus, all competitors must be above the age of 17.

So how’d Fleur react when Ludo Bagman said Harry Potter was joining?

Well, she didn’t believe it at first.

Hogwarts already had Cedric Diggory. And Harry’s still very young.

As a result, it’s no surprise why Fleur went straight to Madame Maxime. And demanded an explanation from the headmistress of Beauxbatons.

#3: “Arry, you saved my sister’s life, I do not forget.”

The Triwizard Tournament’s divided into 3 different tasks:

  • Snatch an egg from a dragon.
  • Save something valuable from the bottom of Hogwarts Lake.
  • Make your way through the maze to get the Triwizard Cup at the end.

However, the 2nd challenge wouldn’t go too well for Fleur…

Because she’s attacked by Grindylows. Water demons that lived in Great Britain.

As a result, Fleur couldn’t continue and save her sister from the bottom of the lake.

Luckily, that’s when Harry dived in to save the day.

He went out of his way to help both Ron and Gabrielle Delacour.

And that’s how we got this touching response from Fleur to Harry.

More facts about Fleur Delacour

#1: Thinks highly of her good looks

Although Fleur can be a bit arrogant at times because of her beauty…

It’s actually much more than that.

Fleur thinks very highly of the way she looks.

For example, when Bill received a scar, it ruined his good-looking face.

But how’d Fleur react to what happened?

Well, she said that she’s:

“…good-looking enough for both of them.”

And while it might sound like a compliment.

It’s actually backhanded if you dig a little deeper. Because others could take it as Bill’s looks don’t matter.

Of course, it might be the language barrier. Especially since Fleur’s still practicing her English.

But I can’t help but wonder if she meant that comment in a good or bad way.

#2: She can make everyone around her look more attractive

Fleur Delacour’s part Veela.

So she’s a natural beauty. Someone who can seduce any guy around her with looks alone.

But did you know she can make others look attractive too?

Yes, we’re not lying.

In fact, it happened during Fleur and Bill’s wedding.

She was so happy that day that everyone received the same beautifying effect.

It worked so well that nobody could see any of Bill Weasley’s scars. It’s like he never fought the werewolf Fenrir Greyback.

And while it may have been only temporary…

I think it’s perfect for their wedding day.

So they can take the perfect photos.

Plus, it works the same way in real life too.

You see, a study shows people in love just looked at others and themselves much better. As a result, it might explain why everyone felt good and considered each other beautiful.

#3: Not your average magical skills

While most fans remember Fleur Delacour for her beauty…

Or maybe her loving relationship with Bill Weasley…

She’s actually quite a tough witch too.

For example, Fleur successfully took on a dragon.

And she even put the giant flying beast to sleep.

A feat not many wizards could do.

Not to mention the fact that Fleur Delacour did it without help.

Plus, she can cast a non-corporeal Patronus. 1 of the strongest defensive spells in the world of magic.

And what makes it so special, you ask?

Well, it’s not something anyone can learn. Only very talented wizards and witches can use a Patronus.

So before you judge Fleur by her looks…

It’s about time we recognize her magical skills too.

#4: Transformed into Harry Potter

Harry Potter’s on the run for most of his teenage life.

And during a  very dangerous moment…

The young Potter’s movements were revealed to Voldemort. And his Death Eaters were on hot on Harry’s trail.

So what’s the plan to get him out of harm’s way?

Well, 7 other people disguised themselves as Harry Potter.

And they would trick the dark wizards as Harry escaped to the Burrow.

But can you guess who volunteered to be 1 of the disguised Potters?

It’s none other than Fleur Delacour herself.

It’s her way of paying back Harry for saving her sister.

On top of that, Fleur’s also very skeptical about everyone helping…

And this was what she had to say about the escape plan being leaked to the enemies:

“Yes, and zat eez all very good, but still eet does not explain ‘ow zey know we were moving ‘Arry tonight, does eet? Somebody must ‘ave been careless. Somebody let slip ze date to an outsider. It is ze only explanation for zem knowing ze date but not ze ‘ole plan.”

#5: Extremely humble

I know it sounds crazy.

We’ve said that Fleur can be rather arrogant.

And calling her humble would make us a hypocrite, right?

Well, we did mention she had a good side.

What’s more, it showed when it mattered most.

For instance, when Harry’s the one to save Gabrielle.

Fleur was willing to give up all her points and get 0 for the 2nd task.

Because she believed it should go to Harry Potter.

Since she had done nothing at all.

#6: Medals of honor from 2 magical ministries

Fleur Delacour fought at the Battle of Hogwarts

In fact, she stood her ground against Voldemort’s evil forces.

And while many lives were lost that day…

Fleur Delacour’s bravery was unlike any other.

So much so that she actually received 2 medals of honor:

1 from the French Ministry of Magic. And the other from the British Ministry of Magic.

Plus, research shows courage often leads to a longer life.

So with how much recognition Fleur received from the 2nd Wizarding War…

I think it’s safe to say she has a bright and long future ahead of her.

#7: Most people didn’t like her at first

Despite getting married to Bill Weasley…

And eventually starting a family with her husband…

Most people didn’t like Fleur Delacour. Especially the girls.

In fact, this was what Hermione had to say about Fleur’s personality:

“I know, she’s so full of herself.”

On top of that, Bill’s mom, Molly Weasley, doubted their love.

She even went so far as to ask if their wedding was canceled because of Bill’s scars.

But luckily, everyone soon saw Fleur’s good side too.
