SpongeBob vs Bugs Bunny – who would win a fight?

Bugs Bunny would win in a fight against SpongeBob Squarepants. The Looney Tunes’ star rabbit has powers to warp reality. He can even become the animator of his own cartoon. However, SpongeBob won’t go down easily. And the sponge can make use of weaknesses to come out as the victor.

“Aren’t cartoon characters weak?”

No, they’re not.

In fact, underneath the veil of slapstick humor.

You’ll find feats of strength that surpass even the mightiest heroes.

So, before you call SpongeBob and Bugs Bunny out.

It’s only fair that we test their powers first.

In SpongeBob’s case, his most mind-boggling achievement is unraveling the universe.

Back in The String episode, he pulls on a piece of thread.

However, this isn’t any ordinary snag.

It’s the very fabric holding the world together.

And what does SpongeBob do?

He pulls it and wraps the string around his shoulder like it was nothing.

In fact, NASA confirms a black hole can’t even devour a galaxy.

So imagine what kind of power the cheerful sponge’s hiding.

Likewise, Bugs Bunny’s also full of surprises.

The sly rabbit can effortlessly block attacks from Marvin the Martian.

An alien from space whose weapons can suck up a universe.

And how does Bugs Bunny fair?

He absolutely dominates.

In fact, the rabbit did it with one hand.

All the while reading a book with the other.

What’s more, he’s got the ability of Hammerspace.

An instantly accessible infinite storage.

Which lets him pull out anything from his pocket.

As a result, it’s pretty clear both are masters of the Toon Force.

A plot device that lets them overcome all physical laws of nature.

Just because it looks funny.

However, that brings us to the current problem:

“Well, how do we decide on a winner?”

I’ll be honest, that’s a tough one.

Both characters are considered literal Gods in their respective cartoons.

For example, in Bugs Bunny’s case, we can look at the Duck Amuck episode.

Right before the scene goes into the credits.

The animator is revealed at the last second.

And who do you think’s in charge?

None other than Bugs Bunny.

A meta-joke that blames him for all the shenanigans in Looney Tunes.

However, it’s more than just a gag.

It’s proof that he can shape and warp reality.

A power even SpongeBob will struggle to match.

In fact, you can even see the clip for yourself:

On top of that, Bugs Bunny can casually come in and out of the real world.

For instance, who can forget Space Jam?

A movie where Looney Tunes’ main cast teams up with retired basketball champions.

And the sly rabbit enters our reality like it’s a piece of cake.

Of course, Bikini Bottom’s fry cook is no pushover either.

He can do a lot of crazy things.

And just as mind-boggling as changing the world to your whims.

For example, back in season 4, in the Chimps Ahoy episode.

Patrick makes a literal parallel universe.

And whose abilities scale with the starfish?

That’s right, it’s SpongeBob.

So anything the sea star can do, the yellow sponge can do better.

Sadly, it might not be as inspiring compared to Bugs Bunny’s feats.

Which is why a lot of people end up asking:

“Does SpongeBob even stand a chance?”

In an all-out brawl.

With both sides getting access to their weapons and abilities.

It’s a pretty grim future for SpongeBob.

The Looney Tunes makes use of the Toon Force a lot more aggressively.

And in Bugs Bunny’s case.

He’s practically a master.

For example, he throws Yosemite Sam to Mars twice with ease.

He is a  cowboy who can launch stars and black holes.

What’s more, the rabbit can pull out a rocket…

Fast enough to leave the Milky Way galaxy in mere seconds.

As a result, his mastery of the Toon Force makes him near-unbeatable.

Not to mention his immeasurable speed.

But, beating Bugs Bunny is not impossible.

Despite being overpowered, he has weaknesses.

Many of which SpongeBob can use to his advantage…

3 reasons why SpongeBob would win a fight against Bugs Bunny

#1: SpongeBob isn’t a quitter

SpongeBob Would Win A Fight Against Bugs Bunny Because He's Not A Quitter

A lot of people know the cheerful yellow sponge’s iconic lines:

“I’m ready, I’m ready, I’m ready!”

And if there’s one thing you should know about SpongeBob:

He’s always giving out 200% effort.

Even in the simplest things.

In fact, it’s also one of the reasons why SpongeBob’s so annoying

Just like when he’s out jellyfishing.

The yellow table sponge will stop at nothing to go the extra mile.

For example, he even attends conventions during his free time.

“But what does this have to do with the fight?”

Well, motivation just happens to be one of Bugs Bunny’s many weaknesses.

The sly rabbit can be very inconsistent.

And when he can’t get the easy way out.

He’s not against giving up altogether.

For example, in the movie Space Jam.

When all of his friends were feeling down.

Do you think he revived their spirits with inspiration?

No.

He tricked them.

The sly rabbit brought out a water bottle claiming it had magical powers.

And he just told Michael Jordan, the basketball champion on their side, to play along with the lie.

“So what? That’s not going to save SpongeBob, right?”

Well, a study disagrees.

Motivation can have a huge impact on performance.

And for people who don’t rely on outside factors.

They tend to do a lot better in sports.

So it’s not a stretch to say that SpongeBob will come out on top.

Especially if Bugs Bunny fails to bring his A-game.

And at that very moment when the sly rabbit loses steam.

The cheerful yellow sponge can come in close with his giant magical pencil.

A weapon that can erase anything from existence.

#2: SpongeBob’s higher-dimensional jelly

“Well, even the table sponge can’t fight with an animator.”

Although we haven’t seen him achieve the same feats.

It’s not impossible.

For example, in the SpongeBob Comics Issue #66, the Dreamy Dreamer story arc.

Bikini Bottom’s fry cook stumbled upon a weird world while jellyfishing.

And being as gullible as can be.

He pressed on.

Until he caught a weird jellyfish and ate some unknown jam.

What did this do, you ask?

Well, it turns out it was from a higher dimension.

And SpongeBob gained the ability to see everything from different planes of existence.

He can even interact and manipulate these things like normal.

As a result, even if Bugs Bunny were to jump out of the battle and fight as an animator.

The yellow sponge will notice.

So, unless the sly rabbit jumps back in, it will be a tie between the two.

“What if Bugs Bunny erases the entire world and rips off the page?”

Well, it turns out SpongeBob will just come back.

The Bikini Bottom universe runs on infinite timelines with crossing multiverses.

For example, back in season 7, in the Back to the Past episode.

Multiple SpongeBobs and Patricks keep coming out of time machines.

More than enough to confuse Man Ray.

A powerful villain in the Nicktoon.

On top of that, we also have SpongeBob Comics Issue #6, Crisis of Infinite Jerks.

Where all kinds of starfish and sea sponges come together to help each other.

So what does this mean?

The original yellow sponge will always have an infinite number of universes to fall back on.

And he won’t be going away soon unless Bugs fights SpongeBob face-to-face.

#3: SpongeBob’s magical book page

Writing is great.

In fact, research shows it’s also very healthy.

Especially when dealing with difficult life events.

Putting down what you’re feeling can help relieve emotional distress.

But what does this have to do with the battle?

Well, SpongeBob’s got quite the writing power too.

A magical page that defies all logic.

And whatever he notes down on that piece of paper…

It will come true.

So if he writes that the sly rabbit can’t escape from Bikini Bottom.

The cheerful yellow table sponge will now be at an advantage.

Sadly, unlike Bugs, SpongeBob can only use it once.

But it might be more than enough to level the playing field.

And since the sly rabbit likes toying with his opponents first.

He won’t see this ace up the sponge’s sleeves in time.

“Hey, SpongeBob still can’t put a dent in Bugs Bunny”

I’ll have to give you that one.

Even after all of the 3 previous reasons considered.

Beating the sly rabbit is another can of beans that needs opening.

It seems like the Looney Tunes’ star rabbit always has an answer.

For example, if SpongeBob can regenerate.

Bugs Bunny can heal himself too.

In fact, he can instantly reform after being disintegrated.

A feat that the yellow sponge would need a few more seconds to piece himself together.

Furthermore, Bugs Bunny can do anything as long as the audience enjoys what he’s doing.

His powers are directly related to breaking the 4th wall.

So even if SpongeBob duplicates himself and amasses an army.

The sly rabbit can easily do the same if that’s what the viewers want.

However, there’s one thing the yellow sponge can use to win…

Bonus: Bugs Bunny is ticklish

Believe it or not, it’s one of the rabbit’s greatest weaknesses.

And even if he’s a showman.

A very excellent 1 that lives to please an audience.

He can’t handle getting tickled and laughing his butt off.

For example, in the Looney Tunes Comics.

A sailorman lightly touched his paw.

Only to send Bugs Bunny flying.

What’s more, in the Hare Conditioned episode.

A man in a tuxedo tickled his paw yet again.

And what does Bugs do?

He couldn’t stop laughing and ended up breaking his disguise.

As a result, if SpongeBob manages to get close enough.

He can put the tickle belt on the sly rabbit.

A tool that will make the user laugh uncontrollably.

And when that happens.

Bugs Bunny will become a sitting duck.
