Beedle the Bard background
Sadly, not much is known about Mr. Beedle.
His story’s never explored in-depth through the books.
And he’s rarely ever mentioned in the Harry Potter movies too.
For example, in the Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 film.
We only see the guy depicted in a woodcut.
A rough illustration of Beedle the Bard carved in a block of wood.
However, we do know that he’s an English wizard.
And he was born in Yorkshire, England.
All the way back in the 15th century.
Mr. Beedle was a human.
And as far as his appearance went.
Fans guessed his hair color to be blonde and his eyes to be blue.
Plus, Beedle the Bard’s skin complexion was also very fair.
Beedle the Bard occupation

Mr. Beedle was an author by profession.
And unlike Bathilda Bagshot, a historian that wrote textbooks.
Beedle the Bard created stories for children.
His most famous work’s The Tales of Beedle the Bard.
And his narratives always explain the importance of values.
For example, in The Wizard and the Hopping Pot.
The story showed how a son learned to become generous and selfless like his father.
And I think it’s a great lesson for anyone to read.
No matter if you’re a wizard or a muggle with no magical powers.
What’s more, Mr. Beedle’s tales also show up in the movies.
For instance, we can look at The Tale of the Three Brothers.
At first glance, it might seem like a book about humility and wisdom.
But it’s actually an important clue about the Deathly Hallows.
3 very powerful magical objects that were created by Death.
Harry Potter and the gang eventually caught on to the details.
And Hermoine would narrate the story with an animation that fans absolutely love:
Beedle the Bard character
Since we never saw Mr. Beedle in the book or in action through the movies.
We can’t say for certain what his character was like.
However, if we follow the ideas and opinions from his stories.
Beedle the Bard’s a very kind-hearted person.
A wizard that placed values above everything else.
He also held muggles in higher regard than most people.
Mr. Beedle didn’t care if you could do magic or not.
However, he’s not all sunshine and rainbows.
There are things even a children’s storybook writer hates.
And Beedle the Bard didn’t like Dark Magic.
Arcane arts and magical spells that are used for bad purposes.
He even went out of his way to warn kids about it through his stories.
Mr. Beedle didn’t want anyone playing with dark magical spells.
“He seems like a great guy. Does everyone in Harry Potter know about his books?”
Well, that’s a pretty tricky question.
Because it depends on who you ask.
For those with original copies, like Dumbledore.
They might be able to recite the lines by heart.
However, the book’s been rewritten by Beatrix Bloxam.
And many of the parts don’t reflect the 1st edition versions.
Also, many pure-blood supremacists disliked some of the titles as well.
Especially when a witch and a non-magical person got married.
What’s worse, most of the books have since been banned.
Since they’ve been shown to cause children to vomit.
So we can’t say for certain if anyone remembers the exact books from Mr. Beadle.
It all depends on the wizarding parents.
And how they remember and pass on the stories to new generations of witches and wizards.
More facts about Beedle the Bard
#1: Wrote 5 books in his collection, The Tales of Beedle the Bard
Mr. Beedle’s most famous story’s The Tale of the Three Brothers.
Not to mention it received a lot of screen time as well.
Beedle the Bard’s collection actually contains 5 books in total.
Firstly, we have The Wizard and the Hopping Pot.
A story about an old wizard’s kind legacy.
And passing down his practices to his son.
Secondly, we have The Fountain of Fair Fortune.
A tale of 3 witches and a non-magical knight down on their luck.
But eventually, find comfort and strength in each other.
Next, we have The Warlock’s Hairy Heart.
A story about a wizard that dabbled in the Dark Arts.
And met his downfall in the same fashion.
And lastly, we have Babbitty Rabbitty and her Cackling Stump.
A tale following a foolish king that wants all magic to himself.
But only to be outsmarted by a quick-witted witch.
However, what amazes me most is Beedle himself.
Where did he find the opportunity to write when there’s magic all around him?
On the bright side, a study shows creative writing has a lot of benefits.
And it can improve students’ attitudes toward English.
Not to mention help them grow as a person too.
#2: His stories actually mirror famous fairytales
Beedle the Bard’s an excellent storyteller.
Not just because of the beautiful tales themselves.
But also for their reflection on normal bedtime stories.
You see, in our fairytales, magic plays a central role.
Like in Cinderella, there’s a fairy godmother that grants wishes.
Or, in Sleeping Beauty, where only a magical kiss can awaken the princess from her sleep.
But when you look at Mr. Beedle’s collection of books.
Spells and shortcuts don’t exist.
In fact, it taught a different lesson.
And that magic created just as many problems as it solved.
#3: He’s got a very beautiful beard.

While we don’t get to see Mr. Beedle.
There’s one detail you should never miss.
And it’s his glorious beard depicted in woodcut and in portrait.
Sure, it might seem like nothing.
But it’s pretty cool knowing Harry Potter’s best storybook writer’s got the manliest set of facial hair.
Of course, Dumbledore’s no slouch in the beard department too.
And maybe being Headmaster of Hogwarts helps with growing the thing out.
However, I still think Beedle the Bard’s got a better overall look.
Plus, research shows it makes you look more attractive.
Especially for the opposite gender that’s looking for a relationship.
So maybe somewhere down the line.
Beedle the Bard ended up with a family too.
