Kendra Dumbledore background
Kendra Dumbledore was born sometime between 1850 and 1851.
She was a Muggle-born. So she came from a family of Muggles who didn’t know anything about magic.
Unfortunately, we don’t know much about her past.
The books never mentioned her childhood.
In fact, we don’t even get to read about her adult life…
Just details put together from what others said about her.
However, we can assume that he met Percival Dumbledore somewhere down the line.
And the 2 of them would fall in love and create the most famous family…
The Dumbledores.
They would have 3 children.
Their eldest son, Albus Dumbledore.
The middle child, Aberforth Dumbledore.
And their only daughter, Ariana Dumbledore.
Plus, all 5 of them lived in Mould-on-the-Wold. A small village in England.
In fact, they were a happy bunch, content with their life.
For example, Kendra Dumbledore read her kids a few bedtime stories by Beedle the Bard.
And the 3 siblings were happy to help around the house.
When her life changed forever
Although it sounds like Kendra had a great life with her family…
Everything would change on 1 fateful day.
You see, 3 Muggle boys caught her daughter Ariana doing magic.
And when she couldn’t show them a few spells…
The boys decided to beat her up.
As a result, it left Ariana scarred and unable to control her powers ever again.
And how did her father, Percival, react?
He was furious.
In fact, Percival searched for those boys himself…
And taught them a lesson they would never forget.
He attacked them just as they did his daughter Ariana.
However, this decision left Kendra alone to look after their family.
Because authorities arrested Percival for what he did.
“Why didn’t Kendra and Percival confess about what the Muggles did? Surely they deserved justice too?”
While it might seem like a sound argument…
Kendra and Percival agreed to keep Percival’s reasons a secret.
Because they didn’t want the Ministry to learn about Ariana’s condition.
“But wouldn’t they be able to help?”
You see, Ariana developed an Obscurus. A dark energy that turned magic into violent outbursts.
So if authorities found out about her sickness…
She would be detained at St Mungo’s Hospital for Magical Maladies and Injuries for life.
And Ariana would have to live the rest of her days inside the wizarding hospital.
She tried to make things work
Despite the struggles in front of Kendra’s family…
She still looked out for her children.
And to keep everybody safe from rumors or people peeking into their lives.
Kendra decided to move their home to Godric’s Hollow. A small village in the western region of England.
At the time, life was hard.
In fact, even research agrees too.
Because single parents have it worst…
Especially with financial hardships.
And Kendra had to support 3 children all by herself.
However, while things would be fine for a while…
Everything would take a turn for the worst.
You see, Kendra was home alone to take care of Ariana.
But when her daughter had an outburst…
She couldn’t protect herself.
As a result, Kendra died.
And she left her children without a parent…
With only Albus Dumbledore left to act as a guardian.
But if you want to learn more about the Dumbledore family…
I recommend watching this video that covers their entire history:
Kendra Dumbledore occupation
The Harry Potter series never mentioned Kendra’s line of work.
But we can assume she spent most of her life as a stay-at-home mom.
Because she had to look after her daughter, Ariana.
Plus, she must’ve worked late at night.
Or maybe even remotely.
So she could always be by Ariana’s side.
Kendra Dumbledore character

Rumors about Kendra said that she cared a lot about her status.
And that she acted in a way that didn’t reveal she was a Muggle-born.
However, Albus’s friend, Elphias Doge, said she was a “fine woman.”
But we can understand that she was very caring and cautious.
Because she went above and beyond to hide her daughter Ariana.
Kendra Dumbledore also had beautiful black hair.
And her photograph revealed dark eyes and very high cheekbones.
Not to mention a defined straight nose.
More facts about Kendra Dumbledore
#1: She might be Native American
While very little is known about Kendra Dumbledore…
Harry Potter did have a few interesting comments about her photograph.
In fact, he said that Kendra looked Native American.
And that her face had a “carved quality” to it.
Plus, she looked very composed and formal too.
#2: Not the best mother
Kendra did the best she could despite the challenges her family faced.
So if she had a few blunders in parenting…
It’s really hard to get mad at her.
However, it’s only fair that we talk about them too.
Because circumstances don’t justify bad behavior.
And, frankly, Kendra wasn’t the best mother.
For example, we can take Aberforth’s word for it.
He said:
“I knew my brother, Potter. He learned secrecy at our mother’s knee. Secrets and lies, that’s how we grew up…”
And this short quote revealed how tragic the Dumbledores became…
Because keeping Ariana a secret consumed Kendra and her entire family life.
Plus, research shows that keeping secrets can harm your mental health.
And it can also hurt your well-being as you grow older as well.
So I can only imagine how it must’ve felt for Albus and Aberforth…
#3: Her death might not have been an accident
Although this disturbing fan theory might sound like a stretch…
There’s reason to believe that Kendra didn’t die by accident.
You see, Credence Barebone also had an Obscurus.
But he was able to target his outbursts.
So maybe the Dumbledores left out that detail…
Because they didn’t want to admit that Kendra attacked her daughter out of anger.
Plus, it would also add a whole new meaning to why Albus and Aberforth didn’t talk about her much.
It was another tragic development in the Dumbledore family history.
