Fat Lady background

The Fat Lady was born before the 1890s.

Unfortunately, we don’t know much about her life when she was a human.

The Harry Potter series never explored her story.

However, there’s a good chance she also studied at Hogwarts.

And even got sorted into Gryffindor.

Because she was very brave.

Fat Lady occupation

The Fat Lady worked as the Gryffindor Tower door guard.

So if you didn’t know the password to the common room…

She wouldn’t let you inside.

The Fat Lady was really good at her job…

Not to mention really passionate.

In fact, she didn’t shy away from reprimanding students that came back late.

Like in the 1960s, when Molly Prewett and Arthur Weasley returned early in the morning…

Because the 2 lovebirds went out for a stroll together.

The Fat Lady gave them an earful before getting the opportunity to go inside.

Or like when Harry Potter and his friends were out so late…

The Fat Lady gave them a stern look and said:

“Where on earth have you all been?”

Fat Lady character

As her name suggests…

The Fat Lady was a very fat woman.

And she wore a pink silk dress.

She also enjoyed her fair share of foodie habits.

But the 1 thing that made the Fat Lady stand out was her strictness.

Because she got mad at Gryffindors that came back to the common room late…

Not to mention never let people inside if they didn’t know the password.

Singing can be a lot of fun.

In fact, research shows it can be very helpful too.

Because belting out your favorite songs can reduce stress and improve mental health.

But in the Fat Lady’s case…

Well, let’s just say she doesn’t live up to the saying:

“It ain’t over till the fat lady sings…”

In fact, you’ll be much better off without her singing at all.

Because her voice made everyone cover their ears…

Not to mention, catch every other painting’s attention out of fear of what was happening.

What’s worse, the Fat Lady wanted to impress everyone by breaking glass with her voice.

But since she lacked the talent…

She cheated by slamming it against the wall.

As weird as it sounds…

Let’s not forget we’re in the wizarding world of Harry Potter.

However, the Fat Lady’s an exception.

Not because she doesn’t drink…

You see, it was Christmas break.

So it called for a celebration, right?

Well, the Fat Lady and her friend Violet took things too far.

Because they drank several vats of wine…

With some even over 500 years old.

Sure, I’d be lying if I didn’t say I wanted a sip.

But drinking that much might not be the best idea…

Especially since she’s supposed to be guarding the Gryffindor common room.

Plus, research has proven that heavy drinking is dangerous.

And I don’t think the Fat Lady should be drinking at all in a school.

#3: Attacked by Sirius Black

Paintings just need to look pretty on walls.

So they don’t have anything to worry about, right?

Well, that’s not the case for the Fat Lady.

Since no other painting was brave enough to take the Fat Lady’s spot.

On the bright side, she wouldn’t be gone for long.
