As a result, Filius was smaller because of his goblin ancestry.

However, while Filius Flitwick didn’t mind his height…

The rest of the wizarding world thought otherwise.

You see, while goblins coexisted with wizards…

The wizarding population looked down on them.

So Filius Flitwick had a rough time when he attended Hogwarts.

But did he let the judgments of others hold him back?

Because he had plenty of Gryffindor’s best traits too.

Professor Flitwick being a model teacher as always…

Making sure students know how to cast the right spell.

1 of Flitwick’s best burns…

Especially toward Gilderoy Lockhart.

A professor as a front, but nothing more than a fraud.

The duel between Flitwick and Snape…

With Pomona Sprout and Horace Slughorn to back him up.

More facts about Filius Flitwick

#1: A dueling champion

Flitwick Was A Dueling Champion

Filiius Flitwick might not look like it…

But he’s a renowned dueling champion in the wizarding world.

In fact, he’s got a shelf full of trophies to prove it too.

So even if Albus Dumbledore already passed away…

I’m sure Hogwarts has nothing to worry about in terms of any magical dueling experience.

Plus, did you know Filius proved it in actual combat?

Well, when Severus Snape was undercover as 1 of Voldemort’s dark wizards…

Professor Flitwick and Professor Snape actually came to blows.

But Filius Flitwick managed to get a hold of Severus…

By enchanting a suit of armor to capture him.

And that’s why I love Harry Potter so much.

The characters are full of surprises.

In fact, Filius Flitwick gives a new meaning to:

“Size doesn’t matter…”

#2: A model professor at Hogwarts

Research says effective teaching starts with the students.

And professors must guide them to reaching the answers…

Instead of giving it to them.

So what’s any of this got to do with Filius Flitwick, you ask?

Well, he’s the best example.

Because he doesn’t spoonfeed his classes.

He went through everything piece by piece…

Giving the students time to practice.

But the best part?

Filius Flitwick was the kindest professor at Hogwarts.

And when you got something right.

He always made you feel proud of yourself.

In fact, he’d never shy away from congratulating Ms. Granger.

Because she learned new spells really fast…

Especially for someone so young.

#3: Fell in love

While it might sound like a stretch…

It’s actually true.

Professor Filius Flitwick did fall in love.

And he had a long-term relationship with another professor at Hogwarts

But can you guess who the lucky lady was?

Well, it was the Head of Hufflepuff House, Pomona Sprout.

“Where’d you get this secret information?”

Well, not all books are the same.

And if you had the 20th-anniversary limited-edition ones…

You could find new tidbits that fans had never learned about before.

Plus, if you bought the Hufflepuff book cover…

That’s where you’d find out about Flitwick’s relationship with Sprout.

“But I don’t remember them being lovey-dovey in the story?”

Unfortunately, things didn’t work out.

What’s worse, the books don’t give us a sneak peek into what happened.

On the bright side, they did stay good friends.

But if I were to hazard a guess…

1 of Hufflepuff’s bad traits includes being too kind.

And maybe Professor Sprout’s cheerfulness got out of hand…

Making Filius Flitwick jealous.

#4: Absolutely disliked Dolores Umbridge

I have a list of characters I hate.

And Dolores Umbridge ranks pretty high up there.

But if you thought Filius Flitwick would give her more slack…

He actually hated her just a lot too.

You see, Dolores Umbridge was disrespectful.

Not just to the students, but even to the teachers.

For example, she interrupted Flitwick’s class…

Only to whip out a tape measure and figure out his height.

“But that doesn’t mean Filius hated Umbridge, right?”

Well, I’ve got even more proof.

When Fred and George Weasley barged in to interrupt the exams…

They set off fireworks to cause trouble for Dolores Umbridge.

And can you guess who else was there to see everything?

Well, it was Professor Flitwick.

But he didn’t get mad at the Weasley twins.

In fact, he joined everybody celebrating:

But here’s the best part…

Professor Flitwick had the best comeback for Dolores Umbridge:

“Thank you so much, Professor! I could have got rid of the sparklers myself, of course, but I wasn’t sure whether I had the authority….”

And it showed off 1 of Ravenclaw’s best traits

The ability to use their brains to make the wittiest remarks possible.

#5: A good eye for talent

Fred and George Weasley were big troublemakers.

And while their brother Ron might’ve been the best character in the series…

Nobody could top the Weasley twins’ pranks.

But despite all the chaos they could cause…

The Weasley twins were talented wizards.

And can you guess who saw their potential?

Well, it’s none other than Professor Flitwick.

You see, the Weasley twins left a huge swamp in the corridors.

A prank that was impossible for Dolores Umbridge to clean up.

And something that Argus Filch couldn’t fix with a mop.

As a result, cleaning duty became Flitwick’s job.

But instead of getting rid of everything…

He left a small patch of the Weasley’s prank.

And why not clean everything up, you ask?

Well, Filius Flitwick acknowledged the magic behind the prank.

So he left that small patch as recognition of their talents.

#6: A big fan of sweet drinks

I’ve got quite the sweet tooth.

But in the wizarding world…

I’m no match for Professor Flitwick.

For example, In The Prisoner of Azkaban, everybody was busy having a full meal…

Pairing their food with either wine or beer.

But what about Professor Filius Flitwick?

Well, he chose cherry syrup with soda on ice.

Plus, he asked for a small umbrella for the drink too.

And that’s why I can’t get enough of Filius Flitwick.

He’s always full of surprises.

Even if his sugary addiction might not be the most fitting thing…

Because research shows too much can be bad for memory and brain function.

But knowing how smart he can be.

I’m sure Filius Flitwick knows how to keep things in moderation.

#7: More than just a teacher

Filius Flitwick might be smart.

But he’s more than just his brains.

In fact, he’s 1 of the most creative geniuses among Ravenclaws too…

Since he was the leader of the Frog Choir. Hogwarts’ official singing group.

And that’s not all.

Professor Flitwick was also in charge of the Hogwarts Orchestra.

So between singing talents and conducting a band…

Filius Flitwick’s a part-goblin of many talents.

And if Albus Dumbledore’s quotes said:

“Ah, Music, a Magic Beyond All We Do Here!”

Professor Flitwick’s the exception.

#8: Never became a member of the Order of the Phoenix

I know it sounds crazy.

Professor Flitwick’s an extremely talented wizard.

Not to mention, an excellent duellist too.

So he’s supposed to be a member of the Order of the Phoenix, right?

Well, even if Flitwick fought side by side with them…

He never became an official member of Albus Dumbledore’s group of elite wizards.

“But didn’t the movies say that everyone against Voldemort was part of the Order?”

That’s right.

However, the books never said anything about that.

So I’m biased to trust the source material instead.

Plus, Flitwick never showed up at 12 Grimmauld Place. The home of Sirius Black and headquarters of the Order.

#9: The brains behind keeping the Potters safe

The 1st Wizarding War was a dangerous time.

And during the rise of Voldemort…

Nobody was safe.

However, James and Lily Potter had it worst.

Because the evil Lord Voldemort was after their child.

As a result, Albus Dumbledore gave them the idea of the Fidelius Charm.

A powerful spell that would keep the Potters hidden…

Even from the most dangerous dark wizard at the time.

But the real brains behind that suggestion?

Well, it was actually Professor Filius Flitwick.

Flitwick was the one who explained it to them.

And it’s such a shame that only very few know about it…

Because Professor Flitwick deserves recognition for it.

In fact, without his help.

The Potters would’ve suffered a worse fate…

Since they’d have no way of hiding from You-Know-Who.
