(2023) SpongeBob vs Mickey Mouse: Who Would Win A Fight?

I understand that a mouse will tower over the small sea sponge.

So, based on appearances alone, Disney’s mascot should win, right?

Well, it’s not that easy.

Shockingly, both of these cartoon characters are pretty strong.

And a battle between the two?

It will shake the heavens and the Earth…

SpongeBob vs Mickey Mouse – who would win a fight?

SpongeBob would win in a fight against Mickey Mouse. The sponge’s abilities surpass most of the rodent’s powers. SpongeBob can bend and break reality at his whim. And Mickey Mouse wouldn’t be able to answer back. But under the right circumstances, the mouse also has a fighting chance.

“Wait, aren’t these cartoon characters extremely weak?”

I know it sounds absurd.

Cartoons are the last place anyone’s going to look for battles.

And unlike Marvel and DC comics.

Franchises that specialize in superhero stories.

You don’t normally see SpongeBob saving the universe.

Or Mickey Mouse calling his friends to defend Earth, for that matter.

However, these cartoon characters are far from weak.

So don’t let their child-like antics and funny gags fool you.

Both SpongeBob and Mickey are capable of great things.

For example, back in season 4 of the Spongebob Squarepants Series: the Mrs. Puff, You’re Fired episode.

It was revealed that the yellow sponge had 1,258,056 boating accidents so far.

Which is proof of how durable the little guy can be…

However, the mouse isn’t a pushover either.

Did you know he’s a master of the magical arts?

Well, in Disney’s 1940s film, Fantasia, we can see his talent for the supernatural.

And I strongly recommend rewatching Mickey’s first time casting spells:

But now you’re probably asking:

“Well, if that’s the case, then who wins in a fight?”

Sadly, there’s no easy answer.

Both characters possess the power of the Toon Force.

It’s a plot device shared by every cartoon.

And it means any character can defy all known physical laws of nature.

All for the sake of making a joke or comedic effects.

For example, in SpongeBob’s case, we can look at the Sand Castles in the Sand episode.

He can make working tanks that fire missiles out of the soil.

Not to mention the military-level base of operations he’s also built.

And on Mickey’s side of the ring, we can look at the Cable Car Chaos Disney short.

He pedals a bike straight upward on a 90-degree incline.

A feat no one can achieve without a harness.

Or a god-like ability to resist all gravity.

So as far as common sense goes.

We can’t use any.

It just doesn’t apply to SpongeBob Squarepants or Mickey Mouse.

However, that brings us to the next question:

“So how well do they stack against each other?”

Since both characters are from famous cartoon series.

There’s not a lot of continuity in all of their episodes.

As a result, we can’t just reference the most recent ones.

It would make their power levels differ too greatly.

And it can make the battle pretty unfair.

On top of that, they don’t just appear in their main show.

Both the sponge and the mouse have multiple spin-offs and movies.

Like Sponge Out of Water.

Which shows SpongeBob as a buff superhero.

And even Mickey’s Super Adventure.

Where the mouse receives the ability to fly and unbelievable strength.

Aside from this bonus content, they even have their very own video games too.

Which places their abilities all over the place.

For instance, on Mickey’s side, we have the Epic Mickey Wii game.

Here, the mouse wields a magical paintbrush.

A tool that can make things disappear forever.

Meanwhile, SpongeBob is no slouch either.

In the Nicktoons Unite video game, he receives a self-regenerating moisture upgrade.

A gift from Jimmy Neutron.

The mad scientist from The Adventures of Jimmy Neutron cartoon.

And with that new power, SpongeBob wouldn’t need water ever again.

So to put them on an even playing field:

SpongeBob and Mickey will have ample time for preparation.

And all of their superpowers and tools will be available to them.

This leaves us with nothing but…

7 reasons why SpongeBob would win a fight against Mickey Mouse

#1: SpongeBob can destroy worlds

The sponge may look weak.

And a lot of his fellow show characters love to talk about his small body.

Like how Larry the lobster wants the sea sponge to start working out.

But despite his size…

Spongebob has the ability to destroy the entire world in mere seconds.

For example, if you go through season 11, in The String episode.

The sea sponge manages to break apart the entire universe.

Only leaving a blank white slate in the background.

How’d this happen, you ask?

Well, he simply tugged on a short piece of string.

And he ended up wiping off everyone from existence.

So, in terms of raw strength, Spongebob’s on a multiverse level.

And if the cheerful mouse isn’t careful.

All it takes is one loose thread to rip him apart.

“But how about Mickey? Doesn’t he have secret powers too?”

Well, if we’re talking fighting power, the adorable mouse is a Keyblade Master.

A title that’s given only to the very best of Keyblade wielders.

It’s a magical weapon in the shape of a giant key with immense power.

And a tool that can open nearly anything…

Even doors to different worlds and dimensions.

So if SpongeBob attempts to destroy one universe.

Mickey Mouse can move to the next and continue their battle there.

And with the mouse’s superior fighting experience.

He could potentially run circles around SpongeBob and land a hit.

But there’s one major issue with that plan:

#2: SpongeBob has near invulnerability

No matter what you throw at the gullible yellow sponge.

He just won’t die.

There’s no such thing as a killing blow.

And that’s because of his soft body that bounces all physical attacks away.

We can see this durability in action in The Bully episode.

Where SpongeBob takes punch after punch without breaking a sweat.

As a result, Mickey Mouse can’t rely on simple hits.

They won’t do a thing to the table sponge.

Every attack must be backed by magical powers.

Which will become extremely hard to land when the sponge dons his Quickster suit.

A superhero outfit that makes him move at impossible speeds.

“Hey, isn’t Mickey Mouse just as durable?”

Likewise, the quick-witted mouse still has a lot of cards up his sleeve.

Let’s not forget that he also has Toon Anatomy.

And it means his body can withstand most mortal wounds and accidents.

In fact, he can even change his appearance and shapeshift.

A lot like what SpongeBob can do as well.

Plus, whatever he lacks in invulnerability…

Mickey makes up for it with his magical ability.

Especially when he wears his Sorcerer’s Hat.

A headpiece that tremendously increases his supernatural powers.

He can cast different kinds of spells and elements.

Which will make it impossible for the yellow table sponge to get anywhere near him.

However, Mickey’s not the only one with long-range attacks…

#3: SpongeBob can transform into InvinciBubble

In the Sponge Out of Water movie.

Our cute little table sponge unlocks his InvinciBubble transformation.

A superhero form that grants him enhanced strength.

And the ability to make indestructible bubbles that can stop cannons.

As a result, SpongeBob can easily counter Mickey’s magic.

All he needs is to prevent any spells from making an impact on him.

A task that’s easy to do with enough bubbles to cover him.

Plus, once SpongeBob gets close enough.

He can trap Mickey Mouse inside one.

And he won’t be able to escape unless the sea sponge lets him out.

“But didn’t you just say that the mouse can escape to other worlds?”

Yes, with the power of his Keyblade. It’s possible.

Mickey can link to another dimension while trapped inside the bubble.

However, he’s not the only one with extra tools…

#4: SpongeBob’s magical giant pencil

SpongeBob Would Win A Fight Against Mickey Mouse Because He Has A Magical Giant Pencil

This Nicktoon can get pretty weird at times.

Luckily, it’s the crazy moments that people keep coming back for…

And it’s that warm feeling of nostalgia that adults love about the show.

But can you remember SpongeBob breaking the 4th wall?

You see, all the way back in season 2, in the Frankendoodle episode.

The yellow table sponge obtains a magical giant pencil.

A tool he can use to create anything by simply drawing it.

Or removing something from the world by erasing it.

It’s this very weapon that will give him the edge against Mickey Mouse.

So as soon as SpongeBob gets close enough.

And maybe even get his opponent trapped inside a bubble.

He can whip out his trusty magical pencil to defeat the happy-go-lucky mouse.

“Hey, Mickey Mouse also has a magical paintbrush with the same powers!”

Of course, the little mouse won’t go down without a fight.

And if SpongeBob can bring out a pencil that defies all logic.

Mickey Mouse owns a paintbrush with powerful abilities.

When using blue paint, he can fix any damaged items.

But, more importantly, it can be used to control his enemies into doing what he wants.

What’s more, when using green thinner, he can dissolve almost anything.

It’s also capable of dissolving foes.

Sadly, there’s one problem.

Mickey Mouse’s painting items are in short supply.

So there’s a good chance he’ll run out of them.

And even if he manages to hit SpongeBob with blue paint.

The sponge can use his Krabby patties to nullify mind control.

#5: SpongeBob can create a bubble army

If you thought this would be an even 1-on-1.

You’re wrong.

The table sponge’s skills are vast.

And among the scariest ones are his bubble-blowing abilities.

For example, if we go back to season 2, in the Bubble Buddy episode.

We can see SpongeBob create a living being out of foam.

In fact, that’s just the tip of the iceberg.

He can even make a giant foam pie to please an enormous jellyfish.

So with enough motivation.

SpongeBob can build an entire bubble army to serve him.

As a result, no matter how agile or smart Mickey can be.

He won’t be able to handle hundreds of foam beings coming for his neck.

It’s just impossible.

Even with sorcery by his side, he’ll need to be very lucky.

#6: SpongeBob can survive nuclear blasts of energy

There’s no denying Mickey’s smart.

In fact, he’s always been an expert investigator.

Not to mention, a very brave mouse and a natural leader.

And with enough time to hatch a plan.

He can combine all his superpowers to turn the tides, right?

Sadly, it’s not that simple.

Even a mix of sorcery, energy, and cartoon logic won’t be enough.

And that’s because SpongeBob can survive nuclear blasts.

For example, in the Reef Blower episode, something horrible happens.

The table sponge accidentally sucks up all the water on Earth.

Which equates to about 1.35 x 1018 metric tons (1.5 × 1018 tons).

And what do you think happens next?

All of that water explodes on SpongeBob’s back.

Quickly filling back up the Earth’s oceans and seas.

A blast is strong enough to decimate planets and beings living on it.

In fact, a study shows you only need 100 pound-force per square inch to kill a person.

And if lightning can do that much damage.

Shouldn’t the water on the sponge’s back hurt even more?

Can you imagine how strong SpongeBob would have to be to act as if nothing happened?

So unless Mickey Mouse pulls out a weapon stronger than atomic bombs.

His future after the battle with Spongebob looks grim.

And that’s because our lovable yellow sponge is more than just a cartoon legend.

He’s also a menace on the battlefield.

#7: SpongeBob can make anything happen

The table sponge is no stranger to changing plots to his whim.

And if there’s one weapon that can bend reality in his favor.

It’s the magical book page.

A piece of paper that makes anything you write on it come true.

As a result, Mickey doesn’t stand a chance.

All SpongeBob needs is to put down that Mickey never existed.

And in a matter of seconds…

The fight would be over.

“Wait, SpongeBob’s not the only one who can bend plots.”

Likewise, Mickey’s also got an ace up his sleeve.

His mousekatool.

It’s a mouse-shaped contraption that follows him everywhere.

And it carries everything necessary to overcome all sorts of challenges.

Not to mention, the last tool…

Which is always a surprise that transforms into the exact thing Mickey Mouse needs at his demand.

As a result, if SpongeBob makes the first move.

The clever little mouse will always have the perfect counter.

And while I’m not too sure what object could possibly defeat a god-like spongey being.

It’s a mystery even Mickey won’t find out.

Right up until the last second he uses it.

How will the battle play out?

#1: A SpongeBob victory

In this scenario:

The yellow table sponge overwhelms Mickey Mouse.

And no matter how quick the mouse can be on his feet.

SpongeBob’s attack of endless bubbles eventually catches him.

In response, the mouse breaks out using his keyblade.

A weapon meant for linking to other worlds.

But the fight quickly turns into a battle of fatigue.

Fighting for his life, the tired mouse squeezes out all of his power to create an elemental storm.

But the second Mickey Mouse runs out of stamina…

It’s game over for Disney’s iconic mascot.

#2: A mystery mousekatool

In this scenario:

Our cheerful mouse squeaks out a win at the last possible moment.

Again, SpongeBob takes the lead.

Outnumbering the mouse with a bubble army beyond understanding.

However, Mickey answers back with his magical paintbrush.

Turning the foamy companions against their creator.

By the strength of his keyblade, he runs circles around SpongeBob

And right before the table sponge reaches out to erase him from reality.

Mickey Mouse calls out to his mystery mousekatool.

A weapon of immense power is given to the mouse.

Its vibrations echo across the cosmos.

And with one fell swoop…

SpongeBob is no more.

#3: They would rather be friends

In this last scenario.

There’s not much of a fight.

It accounts for both SpongeBob and Mickey’s personalities.

They’re naturally kind-hearted creatures.

As a result, even when pitted against each other in a battle to the death.

Somehow, the unlikely duo can choose to end up becoming friends.

In fact, a study shows it’s a lot healthier to connect with people.

It says companionship improves well-being.

And I think it’s the most realistic ending for SpongeBob and Mickey.

2 characters that both share the same kind and affectionate personalities.
